Église St. Martin de Ré in St. Martin en Ré on Île de Ré

While I was busy drawing, my husband climbed the winding, narrow, stairs of the church's bell tower to get pics of the views over this part of the island.

I'm certain the views from the bell tower were gorgeous, but
I don't climb tall medieval bell towers anymore. After climbing the 465 steps of the bell tower ( domtoren (link is in english) ) of the Dom Church in Utrecht, year's ago, I figure I've done enough steps! lol :o))

Pretty "Biscuits" in France - moleskine drawing

"Biscuits on the table in Château-Chervix, France"
Watercolors with pen & ink, in small Moleskine sketchbook
June 19, 2013 ~ Château-Chervix, France

I love drawing pretty cookies (biscuits) ... as well as eating them. :o) We had bought a box of assorted "biscuits" while we were in France last month and I spread some out on the table at the gîte in Château-Cherivx - so I could document them in my Moleskine before they were devoured. lol

Currently, I'm going through some extremely painful dental procedures (what a drama this is) and I can hardly eat anything, so looking at this drawing in my "Travels in France Moleskine" is making me both happy and sad!

Now it seems like years ago that I drew/painted
these in my moleskine journal. *sigh*

Last month, in the first week of our vacation in France, we spent three lovely days on the island Île de Ré and, lucky for us, the weather was very kind!

Our summer vacation spot in France is now always near Limoges (in the Limousin region), but we venture out for short overnight trips to other areas that aren't too far away. This time, it was over to the Charente-Maritime department on the S.W. Atlantic coast of France, to the island Île de Ré (always makes me chuckle typing the word "island" in front of the word "Île" since that's what "Île" means - island!). It's about a 3.5 hour drive from Limoges to Île de Ré and so worth the trip. Hopefully, we can make another trip back there in the future, perhaps in the autumn, because it's a truly beautiful island.

In the next few weeks, I'll post some more drawings from my "Travels in France Moleskine, vol. 5" (which is now completed, so now on to vol.6). Right now, I'm busy getting used to not being on vacation. It's difficult!! :o) So much to catch up on around my house.

Oh! Of course, my Kermits enjoyed the trip too.
